Free Food & Baggage On All Virgin Australia Domestic Flights

In another step towards Virgin Australia's transformation into a full service, premium airline, the carrier today announced the inclusion of food and baggage for all domestic flights effective immediately.

The roll out of complimentary food and baggage was based on customer feedback and consultation and will compliment the free wireless in-flight entertainment available to all passengers via their personal devices.

 New all inclusive food and baggage now available on Virgin Australia.

Virgin Australia Chief Customer Officer, Mark Hassell says Virgin Australia is committed to service excellence and putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

“We’re delighted to announce that the Virgin Australia product offering now includes complimentary food and drink, checked baggage on all flights as well as entertainment across our domestic network,” Mark Hassell said.

“The roll out of free food and checked baggage, to complement our wireless in-flight entertainment, is an important part of our ability to deliver a consistent, premium service across our network,” Mr Hassell said.

"The food and beverage service has been tailored to the time of day and the duration of the journey, a great example of Virgin Australia’s customer insight led approach which continues to underpin all of the exciting initiatives that have shaped the airline in to what it is today."

Tea, coffee, juice and water will continue as complimentary on all flights, as well as wine, beer and soft drinks served during 'Happy Hour' between 5 and 7pm Monday to Friday.  The popular onboard Retail Menu will still be available with various items for purchase throughout the flight.

What will be served?

Food options will depend on time of travel. Virgin will offer:

  • Light snack - cheese and crackers, biscuits, half sandwich
  • Snack box - slightly larger snack with small quiche and yogurt or similar or
  • Full meal service as per current trans-continental flights to/from Perth.

“Today’s announcement, coupled with our exceptional service and leadership in on-time performance, puts us in a strong position to continue to grow our loyal customer base,” Mr Hassell said.
