Tigerair Australia took to international skies for the first time today with its inaugural flights to Bali from Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Melbourne and Adelaide departures left at 9:15am and 9:45am, and will arrive at 12:25pm and 12:35pm, respectively. The first service from Perth departs at 7:25pm this evening, arriving into Denpasar Airport at 11:10pm.

Tigerair CEO, Rob Sharp, said the airline was excited to be able to launch its first ever international service from Australia, providing more value and choice for leisure travellers than ever before.

“This is a significant milestone for Tigerair Australia as we continue to grow in line with consumer demand. Bali is renowned as a popular holiday destination for many Australians looking for an affordable tropical holiday year round, and we are confident our new services will prove popular with our core market of leisure travellers.”

A traditional Balinese check-in at Melbourne Airport greeted the first customers, and a traditional Balinese welcome featuring local dancers will await passengers on arrival.

Tigerair is using three recently transferred Boeing 737-800 aircraft from parent company Virgin Australia. Each aircraft features 180 all-economy seats, including five rows of extra-legroom seats (18 seats in front of cabin and 12 seats in over-wing exit rows).

Passengers can enjoy Tigerair's new onboard service on the international flights: a mixture of free and paid wireless in-flight entertainment. This allows onboard entertainment to be streamed on passengers' mobile devices.
