Following its inaugural launch of non-stop flights to Los Angeles from Melbourne on 28 Oct., 2014, United Airlines has announced an increase to the frequency from six-times-weekly to daily.

United operates the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on this route which has proved popular among both crew and passengers alike with its lower cabin altitude, larger windows and new entertainment options.

Alison Espley, United’s managing director, Japan and Pacific Sales, said: “We are happy with the performance of the Melbourne–Los Angeles route and are excited to expand its frequency in order to meet increasing customer demand. The new service has been positively received by our customers who enjoy the benefits of the non-stop service and advance features of this evolutionary aircraft

Espley continued, “Last year many Australian travellers touched down in the U.S. with United and as the popularity of this destination maintains momentum, we are proud to continue to offer competitive products, enhanced flying experience and a new level of inflight comfort to our passengers. This Melbourne–Los Angeles daily service, along with our earlier timed direct services between Sydney–Los Angeles/San Francisco enables us to provide customers with faster connections and access to many popular destinations in North America, such as New York.

United has served the Australian market for nearly 30 years, providing customers with more than 150 daily connections via its San Francisco or Los Angeles hubs, to over 90 destinations across the U.S. In addition to non-stop services between Melbourne/Sydney and Los Angeles, United currently remains the only carrier to fly non-stop from Australia to San Francisco.
