Qantas is taking business travel to a new level of comfort for domestic travellers to and from Perth. Opening the doors on its new Business Lounge, it is welcoming passengers travelling in Business as well as Platinum and Platinum One Frequent Flyers.

The new design aims to provide outstanding service, luxury design and premium food and wine, with Qantas Domestic CEO Andrew David saying, "This lounge sets the new benchmark in business travel and represents the future of the Qantas Business Lounge in Australia.

"The lounge has been designed with our most frequent travellers from WA in mind. It accommodates the mix of corporate, leisure and fly-in, fly-out workers with business facilities, a sports lounge to relax and socialise, and dining areas with single and communal seating."

The new lounge not only integrates sleek Western Australia-inspired finishes, but also a 50 per cent increase in lounge space, with seating for more than 350 people. Designer Woods Bagot aimed to call upon the landscapes from the Margaret River, Matilda Bay, Wave Rock and Broome, integrating such features as terracotta and metallic feature walls to reflect the mineral-rich soil of the area.

While certainly visually engaging, the space is also highly functional, allowing passengers a new level of comfort as they wait for their departures. This includes:

Lounging:

  • News and Foxtel from eight large TV screens throughout
  • Sleek and comfortable seating and furniture in-line with Qantas's other domestic Business and International Premium Lounges
  • Full shower and toilet facilities
  • A large din-in bar with sports TVs

Working:

  • A dedicated work zone complete with communal tables that feature power and data outlets
  • WiFi, wireless printing and private meeting room areas
  • A Press Reader service for daily newspaper access

Dining:

  • Menus designed by Neil Perry
  • A new pizza bar with a trained pizza chef using house-made dough
  • Wine bar serving barista coffee as well as fresh pastries in the morning and wine and canapes in the evening
  • A hot and cold buffet with a line-up of international cuisine, including curries, soups, toasted sandwiches and salads
  • A 'dish of the day' available at the high-table communal dining area with options for morning and evening
  • Make your own fresh juice station in the mornings and a cocktail hour from 4-5pm

With the Chairman's Lounge and Qantas Club already in operation at the Perth domestic airport, this new Business Lounge marks the completion of the Qantas's lounge suite.
