White powdery snow is plentiful at Thredbo. Not only does the ski resort boast the largest snow making system in the southern hemisphere, but when the mountain is fully covered with snow, it is home to the longest ski runs in the country. Getting There
The nearest main airport to Thredbo is Canberra Airport, just over 200km away. Flights from Sydney and New Castle also reach the Snowy Mountains Airport in winter, which is only 80km from Perisher Blue. Book flights online
Privately-operated shuttles also run from Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane to Thredbo.

Car Hire
Car hire is available close by in Albury and the Snowy Mountains Airport. During winter, snow chains for your tires are essential so be sure to also hire chains. You can book your car online to guarantee availability.
