We take a look at some of the world’s highest restaurants, where if you can eat your lunch without throwing up a little in your mouth in the elevator on the way back down to the ground floor, you can consider yourself a ‘high-dining’ aficionado.

Duck and Waffle

City: London

Height: 754 feet

The highest restaurant in the UK, the Duck & Waffle sits perched above East London, just a stone’s throw from Liverpool Station. Take the lift a stomach-plunging 40 floors up and you’re greeted with epic views of the Old Smoke, and an innovative dining menu to match; the signature dish being the restaurant’s namesake, the beloved duck eggs and waffles.

Top Of The World Restaurant at Stratosphere Hotel and Tower

City: Las Vegas

Height: 844 feet

In Las Vegas, the city of excess, the Stratosphere Hotel and Tower currently holds the title for the tallest freestanding observation deck in not only Vegas, but in the United States! A meal up here gives you a 360 degree view over the city and rotates every 80 minutes.

Sky Restaurant @ Tianjin Global Finance Center

City: Tianjin, China

Height: 1,011 feet

Welcome to Tianjin, China’s fourth largest city. While the tower isn’t the largest in the People’s Republic, it does surpass 1,000 feet. You’ll find Sky restaurant on the 72 floor of the Tianjin Global Finance Center, now talk about a high-flying business lunch!

Sky Restaurant 634

City: Tokyo

Height: 1,131 feet

The Tokyo Skytree is the second largest structure in the world, but its resident restaurant, Sky Restaurant 634 sits pretty on the 345th floor, some 900 feet below the tip of the tower. Still, on a clear day, you can see more than 60 kilometres into the distance.

At.mosphere Restaurant and Lounge

City: Dubai

Height: 1,450 feet

Housed inside the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building at 2,717 feet, you’ll find At.mosphere Restaurant and Lounge just over half way up, which still makes it the world’s tallest restaurant! Offering views of the sea, the perfectly crafted Palm Islands and the man-made metropolis below.

Ding Xian 101

City: Taipei

Height: 1,213 feet

Touted as the ‘largest green building in the world’ the Taipei 101 was at one point the tallest. Up on the 86th floor you’ll find fine dining at Ding Xian with a traditional Taiwanese menu and plus furnishings said to rival that of Versailles.

Chicago loves sky-high dining 3 restaurants:

Mid-America Club: 1,075 feet

The only club in Chicago that offers 360-degree panoramic views of the city, this bad-boy resides in Downtown Chicago on the 80th floor of the Aon Center and serves up American classics from Cobb Salad to Black Angus steaks in a fine dining setting.

The Signature Room Restaurant: 1,054 feet

Located on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center, The Signature Room Restaurant has the tagline ‘the restaurant Chicago looks up’. Open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunches its menu to impress means you best book in advance.

Metropolitan club: 970 feet

Classy with the capital C. Located on the 66th and 67th floors of the Willis Tower the Metropolitan Club calls for a membership in order to attend during the day, however, the club opens up to all patrons for dinner and/or libations in the main dining room each evening.
