Offering contemporary luxury with sophisticated touches of style, the Gateway Hotel in Hong Kong has recently unveiled its newly renovated rooms and suites. The designers have given a definite residential feeling to the redesign while at the same time achieving modern sleek lines.
Fritz Sommerau, General Manger of the Gateway Hotel explains that the property has undergone a transformation to a contemporary, innovative yet elegant hotel that targets both international and regional guests.
"The Gateway Hotel introduces a brand new 360-degree redesigned property that defines a totally innovative design concept. We have a brand new lobby, transit lobby and we introduced Three on Canton, the ultimate gourmet destination that is an impressive space of 24,000 square feet to dine, wine, lounge and network on the third floor. Its remarkable structure is composed of a hip restaurant with action cooking stations and a stylish al fresco dining terrace," said Fritz.
"In addition, the 400 newly renovated rooms and suites feature a 40-inch flat screen television, a popular Nespresso coffee machine with a complimentary selection of flavours and an iHome docking station. All suites offer the transformative pleasure of a rain shower and bathtub built in the newly designed marble bathrooms."
Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout the entire hotel. Each room is also wired as a virtual office, equipped with multiple power points by the desk and bed.
When asked about his favourite meals at Three on Canton, Fritz responds enthusiastically.
"For lunch I love the giant salad bar, complimented by a roast from the carvery. Alternatively I go for the Indian curry station, where the chef adorns my plate with succulent Tandoori chicken and garlic nan bread fresh from the oven. For dinner, the seafood selection is second to none, and the freshly shucked oysters are so hard to resist. And so is the wide selection of Chinese cuisine, including the favourite Peking Duck. Last, but not least, I top it all off with the lovely warm chocolate lava pudding with a helping of Movenpick ice cream. Bon appetite!"
After checking into the hotel, it’s worth heading out to explore the city – the property is centrally located on Canton Road. The major transport hub of the China Ferry Terminal, Star Ferry and the MTR station are all within walking distance and the Airport Express at Kowloon Station is just moments away. Add to your walking tour the promenade of Victoria Harbour, Kowloon Park, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
There is also world-class shopping and dining at the nearby Harbour City, Hong Kong’s largest shopping complex with more than 450 shops featuring the world’s leading luxury brands.
Fritz's favourite past-time is golf and hiking on Sunday mornings with his dog and his family.
"Hong Kong has so much to offer for outdoor lovers. There are country parks everywhere. For a special treat visit the Kadoorie Farm or the Geopark and its remarkable geological heritage on High Island."
