Where to stay in Tasmania
Tasmania’s north coast is lined with charming coastal towns, from beach-bound Ulverstone and Penguin in the west to Bridport in the east. Burnie, the state's fourth largest city, is a perfect place to base yourself, with holiday villas and apartments that dot the downtown district.
Further along in Devonport you will find plenty of guest houses, boutique lodges and B&Bs. Best time to stay in Tasmania
Tasmania has four distinct seasons, with the warmest months from December through to March. During summer, the average maximum daily temperatures sit between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius, while temperatures between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius are the norm for winter. Autumn is spectacular in Tassie, and winter gives you the chance to enjoy fresh sunny days and warm cosy nights in front of the fire. Getting around Tasmania
The best way to get around Tasmania is to drive. Being an island, car hire in Tassie is very popular although you can bring your car across aboard Spirit of Tasmania which sails from Melbourne to Devonport. The cities and towns are very easy to navigate on foot due to their fairly compact size but if you hope to see a range of the island’s incredible natural wilderness, car is the best option by far.
