Too much to do in Kota Kinabalu

You should be aware that if you visit Kota Kinabalu, Sabah’s capital city, there’s a good chance you’ll leave with the feeling that you didn’t do everything possible. With countless historical and natural attractions, museums and art galleries, significant places of worship, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, white water rafting, river cruises, shops and much more, it’s almost impossible to see and do everything in one short holiday.

Instead, take it easy and pick the activities you like the best, so you have enough time to enjoy your sumptuous hotel as well.  The Rasa Ria Resort, Hotel Eden54, Hotel Sixty3, Le Meridien, Hyatt, Oceania and Sutera Habour will all keep you comfortable with plush furnishings and convenient facilities.

Uncover underwater wonders off the coast of Semporna

Located on the east coast of Sabah is the small town of Semporna where you can climb to the peak of Bohey Dulang for incredible views. However, Semporna is better known for the islands nearby, which provide some of the best snorkelling and scuba diving spots in the country.

Despite its small size, Semporna has a healthy range of hotels that have embraced the town’s diving culture and tourism. Modern and sophisticated hotels such as the Sipadan Inn, Seafest, Han Palace and Dragon Inn provide excellent rooms and amenities, plus friendly staff who know the area and are happy to direct you to your next diving adventure.

See the animals in Sandakan

Sabah has a lot of unique wildlife and Sandakan is perfectly situated to allow access to the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary and the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. Sandakan was the capital of Sabah until World War II, so the city contains a war memorial park and one 19th-Century church, which was the only building to survive the war.

Sandakan isn’t as popular as the current capital, Kota Kinabalu, so you can find a lot of high-quality hotels at bargain prices. The four-star Four Points by Sheraton and the three-star Borneo Cove Hotel won’t hurt your wallet, while still delivering competitive facilities and extravagant rooms.
