Langkawi enjoys a relatively consistent climate all year round. While the island is always hot and humid, it’s shielded from major winds and storms by the mainland on one side and Sumatra on the other. Langkawi is driest between January and March, and peak season starts around late November, continuing until April. Between April and August, temperatures are a little lower and there are fewer fellow travellers, but there’s a higher chance of afternoon thunderstorms. September to October is the wet season and also regarded as low season.
Getting around Langkawi
Langkawi is relatively easy to get around, with the two most popular options to hire your own car or take a taxi. Taxis are quite easy to flag, although can be expensive. Hiring a car gives you the freedom to go wherever you choose, whenever you choose, and can be pre-arranged before your trip.
