Not all selfies are created equal. Modern day wanderers love nothing more than snapping a self-portrait in front of the world's greatest man-made icons and natural wonders - but where are the best places to take your next profile pic?

We asked the tour gurus at APT for their tips on the world's best selfie spots, and here's what they told us. When you tour with APT, you're guaranteed more opportunities to strike a pose than you can shake a selfie stick at!

 Tres bien selfies in Paris

1. Capture an eyeful of the Eiffel

The Eiffel Tower in Paris is one of the most photographed structures in the world and welcomes some seven million visitors each year to gaze upon its angular beauty. The only question is: will you snap a selfie in front of the tower or from the shiny, new First Floor?

Who says we'll never be royals?

2. A selfie fit for a royal in Germany

Europe is the land of fairytales, with castles speckled across its lands. One of APT's favourites is Schloss Burg Namedy in the German town of Andernach. This 14th century beauty is still home to a real life princess, who opens the doors to her home for APT guests!

3. A moment meeting the Mounties

Canada is just about as photogenic as a country can get. From the majestic mountain peaks to glacial lakes, the Great White North will give your camera a serious workout. When it comes to selfies, the Mounties – the Royal Canadian Mountain Police – are usually more than happy to oblige.

Sunrise or sunset, Angkor Wat is a stunner.

4. Sunrise smiles at Angkor Wat

Trying to capture the splendour of Angkor Wat in one photo isn't easy; this World Heritage-listed Cambodian site is said to be the largest single religious monument in the world. Visit at sunrise as darkness gives way to light and the temple casts beautiful reflections on the water.

5. Strike a pose at Macchu Picchu

Whether you're wandering through the Sacred Valley, hiking the Inca Trail, or sampling the delights of Lima, you're going to want to remember that moment. Bonus points if your selfie in the Lost City includes a donkey or llama.

6.  Getting your kicks in the Kimberley

Widely regarded as Australia's last true frontier, Western Australia's Kimberley region is filled with some of our country's most dramatic scenery. Spectacular selfie moments include taking a helicopter over Mitchell Falls, watching the sun set over the Bungle Bungles, or jet boating through Horizontal Falls.

7. A selfie as you sail away

APT is widely known for their epic small ship cruises. For truly unique selfies, they recommend a 17-day escape to South East Asia, snorkelling among the (stingless) jellyfish of Kakaban Island in Indonesia, and taking a gander at the iconic boat-shaped houses of Toraja Land.
