Offering unbeatable views of London from the 39th floor of the Shard, the Shangri-La Suite is yours to enjoy for £14,000 a night

It costs couples from £14,000 per night to stay in the Shangri-La Suite at London's Shangri-La hotel, but that premium does at least secure them what is indisputably the best view offered by any hotel room in the city.

On the 39th floor of Western Europe's tallest building (the hotel runs to the 52nd floor, where its bar and swimming pool are located, but the skyscraper's tapering form means the most spacious accommodation is further down), the suite offers views from Canary Wharf to the London Eye but provides plenty of other luxuries too.

A capricious bathroom is finished in wasabi-green marble, a dining area are on hand should you wish to entertain (with a butler on standby to prep everything in the adjacent kitchenette), velvet and leather chaise lounges are positioned so guests can gaze at leisure at all that surrounds them.
