Universal Studios' New 'The Walking Dead' Attraction Is The Actual Zombie Apocalypse
Fans of AMC's The Walking Dead television series will soon be able to get their 'walker' fix in a far more realistic and terrifying way at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles.
The theme park's new 'The Walking Dead' attraction will officially open 4 July, 2016, transporting guests into a frighteningly realistic zombie apocalypse.
The realism comes courtesy of the same creative team behind the show's special effects including KNB Efx and executive producer and director of The Walking Dead, Greg Nicotero.
Together they're developing prosthetics, using original moulds from the show and meticulously painting the walkers to establish a deeper emotional connection between fans and the animatronics.
"After six years of working on The Walking Dead, we have a great opportunity to take The Walking Dead out of the studio, off the soundstage and into an attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood where guests can come face-to-face with walkers," said Greg Nicotero.
Authentic walker make-up, detailed set design and costumes, intelligent animatronics, and iconic props and walkers from the series (including 'Bicycle Girl') will all help turn Universal's new attraction into a living representation of the show.
