From lavish décor to sprawling pools, personal butlers and on-top-of-the-world views, there's no limit to what a hotel can offer when money is no option. So where are the world’s most expensive hotels? The top five may surprise you.

 The Burj Khalifa

Burj Al Arab, Dubai, UAE
The sail shaped Burj Al Arab is one of Dubai's icons and the forth tallest hotel in the world. Further to its impressive stature, the Burj is a leader in luxury accommodation, officially rated as a Five-Star Delux though commonly referred to as the world's only seven star hotel. With such a high rating you can only expect an equally high price tag. A two level suite can cost up to $27,000 per night and includes decadent luxuries such as whirl pools and personal butlers.

Hotel President Wilson, Geneva, Switzerland
Coming in at number one is Hotel President Wilson in Geneva. Surrounded by the stunning Swiss Alps and overlooking Lake Geneva, the hotel's Royal Penthouse Suite spans 12 rooms including four bedrooms, six bathrooms, a health centre, piano room and library.  But luxury isn't the suite's only appeal. Bullet proof doors, panic buttons, a private elevator and a short drive from the United Nations Buildings makes this hotel a suitable stay for a dictator, oil sheik or extreme VIP who doesn't mind paying $65,000 per night for peace of mind.

The Raj Palace Hotel, Jaipur, India
Dating back as early as 1503, The Raj Palace Hotel is a beautiful heritage hotel that was once home to The Maharajah. In 1995 the Princess Jayendra Kumari Ji decided to restore the palace back to its original state and open it as a hotel. Within The Raj Palace guests can choose from a range of rooms including historical suites or the premier Maharajah's Pavilion Presidential Suite which spans three floors and measures close to 500 square meters. For a cool $15,000 per night the suite features gold, silver and ivory décor, private library, private swimming pool, private state-of-the-art theatre and a private roof-top terrace overlooking Jaipur.

Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, France
Just steps from the Champs-Élysées lies the iconic Four Seasons Hotel George V, a beautifully preserved hotel that dates back to 1928. In true Parisian style the hotel combines stylish luxury with homely touches, from private terraces to crystal chandeliers and an on-site health club and spa. Accommodation starts at moderate rooms right up to the Royal Suite which for $24, 500 per night, overlooks the Art Deco fountain and includes a marble fireplace, walk-in wardrobe, private steam room and sauna.
