It's midnight in Dubai and 'hump day' has come early for the Sunrise crew. With little sleep and a few new pairs of pumps (we're looking at you, Ms Armytage), the team kicked off their Round The World adventure in Dubai, broadcasting live from the opulent atrium of the Burj Al Arab.

After some initial bumps (camel pun intended), the crew touched down in Dubai and were immediately whisked to the Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world standing at an eye-popping 829 metres – before Sam and Nat detoured to spend some quality time with their credit cards at Dubai Mall, where a personal buggie was required to haul their shopping spoils.

Kochie and Co. fought off a torrential downpour to venture into the desert on camelback. Luckily it was smooth sailing once the team were aboard their grunting steeds – well, except for Mark Beretta whose camel was suffering from a bout of premature Mondayitis.

From here it was a 4WD journey across the sand dunes to a traditional Bedouin dinner, where Kochie tried his hand at bird whispering with a hands-on falconry experience. Meanwhile, Edwina Bartholomew brought us the weather forecast from the Al Maha Resort.
This oasis in the heart of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is one of the most luxurious stays anywhere in the world. Eddy advises the best time to visit is winter (our summer), when the desert mercury dips ever so slightly.

The Sunrise crew's time in Dubai was defined by superlatives, from the world's largest mall to the world's tallest building, the world's most luxurious hotel and, apparently, the world's most stubborn camel.
