Queensland’s Most Picturesque Places To Propose This Valentine's Day

Choosing to propose on one of the most widely recognised romantic days of the year can lay the pressure on a bit thick. But one way to take the stress out of the moment is to do so in a wonderfully picturesque setting where all of the focus isn’t just on you but can be shared in appreciating your stunning surrounds.

Diverting the focus to some of Queensland’s beautiful natural scenery is not only a good way to keep the question a surprise, but it will also make for some phenomenal imagery or video to look back on if you’re lucky enough to have someone secretly documenting the moment.

So without further ado here are some of QLD’s most enchanting locations to propose this V Day:

In the Middle of a Sunflower Field

Is there anything more romantic than a field of sunflowers? Head to Queensland’s southern Darling Downs near the little town of Allora, also known as ‘the sunflower town’. Take a joyful stroll through the extensive sunflower fields that have been harvested in the area for decades.

Or in a Perfectly Manicured Tea Plantation

An equally stunning location to the sunflower fields of the Darling Downs, is the Nerada tea plantation in tropical north Queensland just near Malanda. The plantation instils a touch of zen and peacefulness with the neat and leading lines of the field.

From a Hot Air Balloon

Get high above the stunning Mareeba Valley for your special moment as you look out over the colourful patchwork fields below and take in the sunrise creeping up from the horizon.

On the Moss Steps of Paronella Park

Like something out of a fairytale in a far off magical land, Paronella Park is somehow right in our own tropical backyard. Located near Innisfail just south of Cairns, if you’re able to capture your enchanting proposal on celluloid (or an iphone) the images are sure to be out of this world.

Waking Up on the Great Barrier Reef

Speaking of fairy tales, why not live one in real life? Sleeping out under millions of visible stars next to your significant other has to be one of the most romantic experiences to be had, but add on top of that, floating above the world’s most beautiful reef and you’ve got yourself a fairytale proposal.

During Your Own Private Whitehaven Picnic

That you arrived at by seaplane. Nuff said really. Just remember that for one of the grandest gestures of your life, isn’t it worth setting the scene for the rest of your life?

On the Kuranda Scenic Railway

Even if you’re not a card carrying rail buff, the Kuranda Scenic Railway which snakes its way up the Macalister Range is an incredible journey filled with lush tropical surrounds as you look out over the valley below.
