If, in hospitality terms, staying in a hotel's penthouse suite is the ultimate sign that you've made it, then no other London property caters as comprehensively to high-fliers as the Corinthia.
It has a total of seven penthouse suites, each inspired by a different type of personality you might expect to find in the capital and all awash with surprising features.
A grand atmosphere inside the Musician's Penthouse
The 230-square-metre Musician's Penthouse pays tribute to the property's musical heritage. In the 1800s the building housed the Hotel Metropole and its ballrooms would regularly host orchestral performances conducted by Mantovani.
Today this two-storey suite features a turntable, Steinway piano and other musical equipment, and is popular with pop stars, celebrities and the occasional member of royalty.
Other features are more subtle. The main TV is secreted behind a mirror, the bed is by expensive British brand Hypnos and, as in the hotel's spa, the toiletries are by Espa. The best amenity of all, however, is the rooftop terrace, which overlooks the Thames, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye. Should it take your fancy, you can book a stay for £10,000 ($19,500) a night.
