As of next year, Australian citizens travelling into Canada will be required to obtain an electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before flying.

This new online document will be made mandatory from 15 March 2016, but visitors will be able to apply online from 1 August 2015.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada have made the application process simple and convenient. Australian travellers will need to apply online by providing personal information similar to what is currently requested upon arrival in Canada.

One benefit of the new eTA system will be faster service through customs for Australians upon arrival.

The eTA will cost a little more than $7 per person and will be valid for up to five years from the issue date.

I love the kind of travelling that is one part strategic planning and two parts spontaneous adventure. Whether I'm exploring my local city or a small town in the middle of nowhere, I'm always hoping to find something no one else has discovered.
