Travellers are now seeking out unusual bespoke holiday experiences more than ever before with the movement towards treehouse hotels proving a unique opportunity to quite literally escape into a whole other world.

It comes as little surprise that treehouse accommodations are increasingly gaining in popularity, because who wouldn’t want to float in a canopy of wildlife high above a forest or look out over a steep mountain? Hotels.com has released it’s ‘Loved by Guests Awards for 2017’, revealing an almost 30 percent increase in demand for tree-house hotels in 2016.

So we’ve compiled our list of perfect treehouses fit for big kids who are sick of adulting...

Silky Oaks Lodge - Port Douglas, Queensland

When you’re not busy living out your best Tarzan and Jane lifestyle, you can hike through the rainforest and swim, snorkel or canoe down the Mossman River, which runs right through the property.

Winvian Farm Treehouse, Connecticut, USA

This stunning cottage accommodation at Winvian was conceptualised by a total of 15 architects and designers including David Sellers, a former professor at the Yale School of Architecture, so you know it has some pretty big design chops. One of the accommodations is a cute two-story tree house complete with a fireplace. Other highlights include a jacuzzi, fully stocked bar, and Bose entertainment system, giving the space an adult spin on the childhood tree-house dream.

Tongabezi Safari Lodge, Livingstone, Zambia

The Tree House at Tongabezi Lodge in Livingstone sits on the banks of the Zambezi River, just upstream from Victoria Falls in Zambia. It is set against the basalt rock bed, among the branches of a riverine Ebony Tree. While it isn’t high in the air, you won’t mind as you sit on the sustainable pine deck and gaze at the spectacular Zambezi.
