Behind The Velvet Rope At Sofitel's Nikki Beach Club And Restaurant's Opening Night In Bali

It's a balmy Saturday night in Nusa Dua and I'm standing in a sea of white-clad party goers.

Tonight (December 6, 2014) is the launch of the latest Nikki Beach Club and Restaurant at the stunning Sofitel Nusa Dua Resort in Bali.

There is a hum of excitement and I'm not sure if it's the anticipation of the promised night of champagne and fun at the hottest nightclub on the planet or that everyone has just realised that we have angry storm clouds grumbling high in the night sky above our heads.

The rain begins to fall.  We all know what happens to white clothing when wet.  This party could end up being the world’s biggest wet t-shirt competition!

Will the local rain stopper man have to give a refund tonight, I ask?  In Bali a “rain stopper” is always employed to ensure that big events go smoothly.

We finally reach the entrance, show our entry tags, and step over the threshold down a path lined by tiny doll-like Balinese dancers.

All In White

The Nikki Beach Bali opening stays true to the 'all white' resort style concept with luxurious opium white day beds trimmed with white billowy curtains and whiter than white director chairs matched with pale timber tables.  We weave our way to the heart of the club through a lovely large Balinese stone arch down to admire the club’s funky white swimming pool with swim up bar. I love swim up bars - if you drink too much and fall of your perch you don't get hurt.

The Nikki Beach Bali certainly lives up to its reputation of chic and luxurious beach club married with great entertainment, delicious food and friendly staff.

Worldwide Demand

"I opened my very first Nikki Beach location in 1998 to celebrate the life of my daughter Nicole and we did not have any plans for a global brand,’’ said entrepreneur Jack Penrod, creator of the Nikki Beach nightclub concept.  “However, the magic between our family concept and our customers created a demand.  It was then that we decided to strategically expand Nikki Beach worldwide while always keeping the core message behind the brand - a celebration of  life.”

And expand they have.  In 16 years the Nikki Beach powerhouse has exploded across the globe with beach clubs and restaurants opening in Miami, St Tropez, St Barth, Marbella, Cabo San Lucas, Marrakech, Koh Samui, Mallorca, Ibiza, and Phuket.

In 2010, the Nikki Beach Hotel & Resort opened at Koh Samui in Thailand. This year was a big year for the company opening its second Hotel Resort in Heli, Greece, and its Beach Club in Bali.  In 2015 the brand will expand into the Middle East with the launch of Nikki Beach Resort and Spa in Dubai.
