Princess Cruises' MedallionClass has already launched on five of the cruise line’s ships and is set to officially hit Australian shores in January 2020. This exciting new addition to the Ruby Princess has all cruisers talking about this new technology, which aims to revolutionise how we cruise. Here’s everything you need to know about the new MedallionClass.

What Is It?

MedallionClass is a new technology that allows Princess guests to stay connected while at sea and have access to never-before-seen services at sea. Guests wear what is called an OceanMedallion (or medallion), which is about the size of a 20c piece and can be collected when checking in at the port before you cruise.

The OceanMedallion will completely replace a cruise card and there are many options of how you can wear it, including as a slip, sportsband, bracelet or pendant. It’s completely waterproof, heat-, sand- and salt-resistant and there is no charging required.

How Does It Work?

The OceanMedallion will work alongside the MedallionClass app, which is free to download to your smart device.

What Does It Do?

There are endless possibilities with the OceanMedallion! Complete your cruise personaliser first to provide all necessary information for your check in, and then you can get ‘OceanReady’ via the app, which means you can check in faster and order a cocktail in no time!

On the app you’ll be able to order food, drinks and more via the ‘OceanNow’ feature, and your medallion will let the crew know where you are on board for a speedy delivery. You can access your stateroom, watch original travel shows and even play Bingo on Deck through Ocean Casino.

The ‘OceanCompass’ feature will allow you to find your friends and family on board, so you can easily navigate the ship and meet up. Play a variety of free games using the ‘PlayOcean’ feature, such as scavenger hunts and even create your own OceanTagalong, a digital companion that you can personalise and interact with throughout the cruise – you can even take a selfie with your own OceanTagalong via the app.

With MedallionClass, guests will also be able to access ultra-fast Wi-Fi called MedallionNet, which is accessible everywhere on board.
