Virgin Australia has announced that its long-awaited Sydney to Hong Kong direct flights are now on sale. The inaugural flight, scheduled to depart at 10am on 2 July 2018, will be the first of a daily service operated on the company’s Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The dual aisle aircraft will feature Virgin Australia’s award-winning Business Class product, ‘The Business’, which has been named the world’s best for two years running. That’s not the only award-winning thing onboard though, Virgin Australia’s cabin crew were awarded Best airline staff in Australia/Pacific 2017 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, too.
Virgin Australia Airlines Group Executive Rob Sharp said: “We are thrilled our daily Sydney-Hong Kong flights are now on sale, offering a competitive price and our award-winning Business Class and cabin crew.
Hong Kong is an ever popular destination for both business and leisure travellers, however the greater Asia region is also growing. Virgin Australia is partnering with Hong Kong Airlines and Virgin Atlantic to align these new services with onward connections into China, across Asia and on to Europe. This comes along with a new interline partnership with HK Express, connecting passengers to destinations throughout Asia.
To celebrate the announcement of the new direct service, Virgin Australia has launched the #chopstickchallenge, which encourages people to conduct ordinary tasks using chopsticks. Virgin Australia is offering the most creative #chopstickchallenge post the change to win return Business Class flights to Hong Kong, plus two nights’ accommodation and a dim sum masterclass at the iconic Peninsula Hotel.
