First and business class passengers travelling through Brisbane International Airport may have noticed the Qantas lounges have officially closed for business. The Aussie airline has commenced plans to redesign the existing lounges, combining them in a new single lounge experience due to reopen in October. 

This new Premium International Lounge comes on the heels of the success of the award winning lounge experiences in Singapore and Hong Kong. Qantas Head of Customer Product and Service Development Philip Capps said the hefty investment in the Brisbane airport will mark the beginning of a new standard of travel from Queensland's capital.

Eligible members can expect the same award winning service and style realised with a nod to the natural beauty of Queensland. It will also feature 25 per cent more space for customers, with areas dedicated to relaxing, dining and working. And in true first and business fashion, there will be plenty of premium offerings to ensure absolute comfort for all guests.

In addition to seating capacity for 264 guests (a 75-seat increase) and views across the airport and tarmac, guests can indulge in all day barista coffee by Vittoria or a Rockpool-designed cocktail. Speaking of Rockpool, Qantas Chef Neil Perry has also designed seasonal menus for the new lounge food and wine experience. As far as facilities go, there will be complimentary WiFi available throughout, shower suites complete with ASPAR by Aurora skincare products and a quiet focus zone with flexible spaces to work or relax.

Those travelling domestically will not be forgotten as this new premium lounge experience marks the beginning of a complete makeover for Qantas at the Brisbane airport. The domestic terminal lounges are also set for a redesign in the coming months, with a new lounge precinct on the horizon. This includes a new Business Lounge and refreshed Qantas Club with a new Valet experience. The openings will be staggered over the coming year, beginning from early 2017.
