Experience the best
Since 1923 when it first ran as the Union Limited and Union Express, South African rail travellers have enjoyed one of the finest travel experiences money can buy. Now known as the Blue Train, the service runs between Pretoria and Cape Town and is the embodiment of old-world luxury updated with all the modern conveniences one expects of 21st Century travel.
Traversing a scenic expanse some 1,600 kilometres in length, the train was refurbished in 1997 and is considered by many to be the equivalent of a 5-star hotel on rails. Boasting a dedicated butler service, an observation car, smoking and non-smoking lounge cars, soundproof cabins with ensuites and full-size picture windows, the Blue Train has been designed to recreate a bygone era of splendour as it makes it way between the coastal city of Cape Town and inland Pretoria.
