Life's a beach in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv may be situated in the heart of Israel, but this buzzing big city offers a distinctly different experience from its conservative neighbours. It continues to work on its reputation for excess thanks, in part, to its beautiful Mediterranean shores. Locals and travellers congregate across all eight of its beaches for fun, relaxation and the perfect tan.

A sweep of 5-star resorts hug the waterfront, providing guests with the opportunity to unwind in style. This includes the likes of Hilton, Crowne Plaza and Sheraton, all of which provide ocean views. Embassy and Mercure offer star-rated service for less, while the Beachfront Hotel offers simple but clean hostel accommodation.

It's all about the nightlife

It seems remiss to visit Tel Aviv and not at least dabble in its thriving nightlife known the world over. This vibrant city is teeming with trendy clubs, eclectic bars and chic restaurants, entertaining patrons well into the night. Rothschild Boulevard and Allenby Street are popular nightlife locations with plenty of hotels nearby.

A stay at the AL Boutique Hotel Tel Aviv is well worth considering for close proximity to these trendy entertainment precincts. It's within minutes to both Rothschild Boulevard and Allenby Street with luxurious boutique appointments. For the more budget-conscious, the Chef Hostel Montefiore is a great choice for comfortable rooms and lower rates.

A taste of the traditional

The beaches and nightclubs may get the majority of the attention in Tel Aviv, but this city is not without its tradition. Old Jaffa draws on its roots dating back to Noah and now stands as a testament to the city's history. Winding streets display shops, jewellery makers, flea markets and cafes along with traditional stone buildings, the old Port and the Museum of the History of Tel Aviv.

For upmarket accommodation within three kilometres of Jaffa, you may want to consider The Rothschild Hotel, Shenkin Hotel and the Alma Hotel & Lounge.  Best Western also offers a location close to the ancient city with reasonable pricing, while a handful of nearby hostels can help you cut accommodation costs.
