Scenic Monterey

Monterey is widely considered one of the most beautiful locations in the US. The deep blue waters of Monterey Bay crash against a rugged coastline, with secluded, sandy beaches providing occasional points of relaxation.  The 17-Mile Drive will have your camera working overtime with plenty of spots to pull off and enjoy the view.

To make the most of some of the city's most scenic spots, you may want to consider splashing out on a luxury hotel. Options such as the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa and InterContinental The Clement Monterey provide 4-star service with beautiful ocean views. Alternatively, the Inn at Spanish Bay is a 5-star staying option in the Del Monte Forest with easy access to the Pebble Beach Golf Club.

Quintessential Monterey

Monterey is a popular summer destination with a few iconic attractions that everyone should experience at least once. This includes the Old Fisherman's Wharf where you can spot sea lions and book a kayak tour through the bay. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is another quintessential stop for a fascinating glimpse under the sea.

Being popular tourist destinations, it's easy to find accommodation with quick access to these main experiences. Cannery Row is bursting with boutique hotels such as the quaint Spindrift Inn, which is located on McAbee Beach just three blocks from the aquarium. Book a room a bit further away for better prices with options ranging from Hostelling International to the Merritt House Inn.

Explore the peninsula

The Monterey Peninsula is also home to Pacific Grove and Carmel – two sensational destinations should you wish to get out of Monterey to explore its surrounds. Carmel is known for its impeccable presentation and upmarket shopping, while Pacific Grove offers a much more easy going vibe. A trip here in the winter is worth it for the Monarch migration.

Both cities have you covered when it comes to hotels with Carmel offering up everything from the Swanky Carmel Valley Ranch to the comfortable, more budget-friendly Best Western Town House Lodge. Pacific Grove's selection of accommodation is much the same, with the Deer Haven Inn providing a quaint and comfortable stay.
