Between the Rhone and the Saone
The Rhone and Saone Rivers traverse Lyon, creating a thin strip of land that is easily classified as the heart of the city. Known as Presqu'ile, this second arrondissement is home to many of Lyon's most famous attractions. The Office du Tourisme is located here, offering guided tours of such highlights as the nearby Palais de la Bourse and the Place Bellecour.

Sofitel and Novotel are both accounted for with 5- and 4-star service respectively. Both are also conveniently located within three kilometres of such attractions as the Fourviere museum and the Place Carnot, with its annual Christmas market.

It is easy to get swept up in the romance of Lyon. The opulent architectural heritage is evident in every spire and column of its Renaissance buildings, while its reputation for gastronomic innovation creates an unrivalled fine-dining scene that encourages indulgence. The romance can even be felt in its accommodation with an abundance of hotels offering extravagant private getaways for the romantically-inclined.
If luxury is a priority when booking a romantic trip to Lyon, the city offers plenty of choice. The Cour des Loges showcases restored Renaissance beauty with a Michelin-starred restaurant and tranquil hanging gardens. It is situated in the heart of Old Town, which makes it perfect for walking the historic streets and traboules. St Jean Cathedral is also less than five minutes away.

You can easily walk nearly anywhere you need to go, and, though it has a reputation for fine-dining, Lyon also offers a great range of quality, budget-friendly restaurants.

You can also find a good deal outside of the city centre with the Mama Shelter providing funky, modern style in the seventh arrondissement.
