Economical family travelling

Cutting costs in Kunming

Budget travel is not a problem if you're heading to Kunming. This city is a veritable playground for those hoping to limit their spending. Not only are there a number of economical activities available, the city boasts plenty of hotels with comfortable rooms for less.

Hostels are readily available with the Lost Garden Guest House providing clean rooms on the cheap. It is also conveniently located within walking or cycling distance to museums such as the Kunming Science Museum, shopping and restaurants. Get out of the city

A wander beyond the city fringe will pay off as a number of fantastic sights sit beyond the borders of Kunming.  The scenic Jiuxiang region is 90 kilometres from the city, offering up mountains, caves and rivers. The Stone Forest is another top attraction around 120 kilometres from the city and is often billed as the First Wonder of the World.

Accommodation outside Kunming is a bit limited, which means a stay in the city is your best bet for exploring this region. Day trip tours to many of the surrounding highlights are easy to find. Though, the Tianqi Ashima Hotel is perfectly positioned in the Stone Forest for unique experience.
