Luxury in the Rockies
Nestled within the Canadian Rockies is Jasper, a quaint village-like town with an enchanting backdrop of snow-capped mountains. Although it’s a small town, there are a range of lodges, cabins and hotels to suit all travellers. At the higher end of the scale is the Fairmont in Jasper Park Lodge, a luxurious escape spanning across 280 hectares and fringing the picturesque Beauvert Lake.
This impressive hotel is made up of a collection of heritage log cabins, many of which feature spacious balconies that unveil scenic views across the lake. World-class facilities include an award-winning day spa, 18-hole championship golf course, and six ambient restaurants and bars including the lakeside Cavell’s Restaurant & Terrace.
Rustic wood-log cabins
For an authentic lodging experience within the wilderness of Jasper you can stay in a traditional wood-log cabin or chalet. Standing on the edge of Jasper National Park is Pocahontas Cabins and the historic Overlander Mountain Lodge, both of which are a 30-minute drive from Miette Hot Springs.
The cedar-log Jasper House Bungalows are a cosy retreat with some rooms appointed with whirlpool bathtubs, while the affordable and central Bear Hill Lodge features heritage cabins alongside a glass-walled spa area. Tekarra Lodge is just a stone’s throw from town and offers stand-alone self-contained cabins with rustic interiors, stone fireplaces and private balconies.
Waterfront in the wilderness
A select few hotels and bungalows in Jasper combine idyllic mountain surrounds with a waterfront location. The secluded Patricia Lake Bungalows are 10 minutes from town and offer log cabins and cottages mere steps from the shores of Patricia Lake. Close by is the chalet-style Pyramid Lake Resort, the only resort in Jasper with exclusive access to Pyramid Lake.
Overlooking the glacier-fed Athabasca River stands Alpine Village Jasper, consisting of 48 self-contained log cabins spread across five hectares of lush pine forests. Pine Bungalows Jasper and Becker’s Chalets also look out across the scenic Athabasca River – the perfect setting for a wilderness retreat.
