Marrakech and Casablanca
Marrakech is featured on many Moroccan itineraries thanks to its charismatic vibe and assortment of activities. Guided walking tours are available through the city, showcasing everything from ancient Islamic architecture to the food stalls and markets of the Djemaa el Fna. Venture outside the city for a hot air balloon ride to watch the sun rise over the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, or take a camel safari through the surrounding desert.
Moroccan fun and adventure extends north to Casablanca. Half day driving tours are available through the city to explore such sites as the Hassan II Mosque and Royal Palace. This coastal city is also a great base from which to explore neighbouring destinations with full day driving tours to historic Fez and Rabat.
Off the beaten path
Many of Morocco's cities offer an endless supply of entertainment, but the country's natural beauty should not be overlooked. This is particularly true of the Sahara Desert. The vast expanses of desert sand have been featured in many famous films and offer strikingly beautiful views that seem to go on forever.
One of the most unique ways to journey through the Sahara is an overnight excursion, viewing traditional Berber villages and the colossal dunes of Erg Chebbi. Camels and 4x4s are popular modes of transport and traditional nomad tents offer shelter through the night. Day trips into the Sahara are also available for those running short on time.
