Get the camera ready for inspiring landscapes
Most tours to the Grand Canyon depart from Las Vegas or Phoenix; however, many longer trips around the United States include at least one stopover for a comprehensive journey. Bus tours are one of the most popular ways to head to the Canyon, exploring the South, North or West rims.
The Canyon is 446 kilometres long and 29 kilometres wide, so it’s no small feat to visit this majestic site. Some bus tours even travel along the remnants of the old Route 66, and include a stop at the historic Grand Canyon Railway, a walk around Yavapai Point and a visit to Hopi House.
Plenty of ways to take in the Canyon
One unique way to see the grandeur of the Grand Canyon is by stepping onto the Grand Canyon Skywalk – a glass-bottomed horseshoe-shaped loop that takes you right over the edge. More adventurous travellers might test their limits with black water rafting along the winding Colorado River.
Jeep and SUV tours, as well as tours on foot or bicycle are all fantastic ways to cover ground and see the many sights of the Grand Canyon National Park, where there are hundreds of viewing points and trails to traverse. For something completely different, try soaring above the rocky red outcrops on a helicopter or light aircraft tour for panoramic views you’ll never forget.
