Membership/Status
The Velocity Frequent Flyer program is free to join and lets you earn rewards points and benefits with Virgin Australia and its partners. Depending on your level of membership, you can take advantage of priority check-in, flight upgrades and VIP lounge access.
Points – Earning & Expiry
When flying domestically, members earn points per dollar spent. On international fares, points accrued depends on the fare class, the distance you travel, and your level of membership. Rewards points don’t expire as long as you earn more points or redeem them within three years.
Redeeming Velocity Points
Velocity Points can be used for a broad range of things, including:
Flights
With Virgin Australia and their airline partners, you can redeem points for economy and business class seats on domestic and international flights for one way, return or multi-destination fares to close to 600 destinations worldwide. You can also use your points for upgrades through Virgin Australia’s suite of upgrade products. UpgradeMe, allows you to request a premium fare upgrade in three ways:
- UpgradeMe Points – You can continue to use Velocity Points for a confirmed upgrade on domestic and international short haul Virgin Australia flights. As soon as you have purchased your Flexi or Premium Economy fare, your upgrade can be confirmed.
- UpgradeMe Platinum Member Offer – This is available exclusively to Platinum members. Platinum members can continue to use available upgrades from a Flexi fare to the Business Class cabin on domestic Virgin Australia flights, which will be confirmed as soon as you have purchased the fare.
- UpgradeMe Premium Bid gives you the opportunity to submit an offer of an amount of your choosing for the chance to upgrade an eligible Virgin Australia booking. You will be notified no later than two days prior to the departure of your flight whether you have successfully received an upgrade.
Lounge Access, Car Hire and Holidays
Virgin Australia lounges provide a practical space to work or to just relax in comfort prior to your Virgin Australia flight departure from selected domestic airports. Both existing and new lounge members can redeem points for Annual Membership, with discounted pricing for Silver members.
Virgin’s online car hire partner, Car Trawler enables you to search for Europcar, and pay for your vehicle with points. You can redeem points for the total cost of your car hire, or use fewer points and pay the balance with cash.
In conjunction with Virgin Australia Holidays, you can use your Velocity points to take the family on a fun-packed trip to places like the theme parks at the amazing Gold Coast.
