Getting to Sapporo

Direct Sapporo flights are mostly from nearby Asian countries and flights from Australia require a connection in Tokyo or one of the many other transit airports throughout Asia. Direct flights from Australia to Tokyo are between 10 to 12 hours in length and an additional 1 to 2 hours to Sapporo.

Sapporo International Airport (CTS)

Sapporo Airport’s domestic terminal is an easily navigable half circle with departure gates located along the outer edge. The international terminal is located in a separate building which is connected by enclosed moving walkways. The quickest method of travel from the airport to the city is by the Rapid Airport Express train. Travel time to the city is approximately 40 minutes. Travelling by car takes about 1 hour.

A different kind of museum altogether but one that is equally popular is the Sapporo Beer Museum, home to the brewery and beer garden of the Sapporo Brewing Company, maker of one of the world’s great beers.
