Getting to Noumea
Cheap flights to Noumea are available from Brisbane and Sydney and the flying time is a little more than 2 hours. Connecting flights are also available via Auckland. The international airport is approximately 50 kilometres from the city centre.
Airlines from Australia
Noumea flights are operated by Air Calin, New Caledonia’s international airline. Air Calin flights depart from Brisbane and Sydney. Air New Zealand and Air Vanuatu offer connecting service to Noumea from Auckland and Port Vila respectively.
Noumea Airport (NOU)
The Noumea International Airport is located 50 kilometres outside the city. Domestic operations within New Caledonia depart from Magenta Airport (GEA), located approximately 4 kilometres outside of Noumea. Car rentals are available at the airport as is public buses or private shuttle services.

The city of Noumea is situated on a lovely harbour and atop rolling hills where beautiful views of the ocean front can be seen from almost any vantage point. Head up to the botanical gardens which features native trees and plants and where many of the islands tropical birds can be seen. Noumea also has an excellent zoo as well as fascinating museums detailing the history of the island and Pacific exploration. Be sure to visit Amadee Island just a short boat ride from Noumea. The island’s gorgeous 52 metre high lighthouse was constructed in Paris in 1862 before being disassembled and shipped to New Caladonia where it has been standing tall ever since.
