Getting to Newark

Flying time from Australia to Newark depends on the airline and routing. One stop service from Sydney to Newark is available with a connection in Los Angeles, San Francisco or Dallas. Total flying time is approximately 18 hours.

Airlines from Australia

Both Virgin Australia and Qantas offer cheap flights to Newark in conjunction with their codeshare partners, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines. Virgin Australia connects with Delta in Los Angeles (LAX) while Qantas connects with American at LAX or Dallas

United Airlines has one stop service from Sydney to Newark via Los Angeles or San Francisco. United also serves Melbourne with a stop in Sydney before continuing on to LAX.

Delta Air Lines serves the Sydney to Los Angeles route and operates Newark flights with an additional stop in one of their domestic hubs.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)

Newark Liberty International is one of the world’s busiest airports. While it is located in the state of New Jersey, it is one of three major airports in the New York City metropolitan area and just 23 iskilometres from Midtown Manhattan. Newark Liberty is also a major hub for United Airlines and a common transfer point to many U.S. domestic and International flights.

Newark Airport has three terminals, each with several concourses. A free monorail service called AirTrain operates between each terminal as well as to car rental facilities and car parks. The airport monorail is also a convenient link to Amtrak and New Jersey Transit rail links.

Airport shuttles, limousines and sedans are also available for area transport and may be arranged near baggage claim at the arrivals area. Taxis are plentiful and are found just outside the arrivals area.

As a major international business and holiday and leisure destination there are countless hotels near Newark International Airport in every price range.

Newark is a major transportation hub located just minutes away from New York City. While not nearly as large as its New York neighbour, Newark is the largest city of the state of New Jersey where much of the state’s business and education centres are located. Once a thriving industrial centre, Newark today has a diverse economy from light manufacturing to insurance, law and healthcare. Newark is also home to many companies who have their corporate headquarters in the city.
