Getting to Cebu
While there are no direct cheap flights to Cebu from Australia, getting there is quite easy with convenient connections through nearby Asian hub airports. The nearest major city is Manila with many daily flights between the two cities.
Airlines from Australia
Philippine Airlines offers direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Manila with daily connections to Cebu. Flights to Cebu are also available on Singapore Airlines and Tiger Air via Singapore, Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines from Seoul or two weekly services on Air Niugini from Brisbane, Cairns or Sydney via Port Morseby.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB)
Mactan-Cebu International is located within the Cebu Metropolitan area and is about a 30 minute ride to the city centre. Taxis are the main public transport method between the airport and the city. The airport utilizes a single terminal for both domestic and international flights.
History, culture and white sand beaches come together in the Philippines second largest city of Cebu. This urban oasis located on the beautiful island of the same name was a centre of Portuguese and Spanish commerce from the 1500’s and where the city gained much of its beautiful Mediterranean and European architecture and customs. From the time when the Spanish first arrived, Cebu became a thriving centre for trade and today it is one of the busiest shipping and commercial ports in Asia.
Because of Cebu City’s idyllic island location, the city is blessed with inviting beaches that are only minutes away from the bustling urban centre. For a real beach holiday though, head outside the city where you’ll find some of the best beaches in the world with incredible views and excellent snorkelling and scuba diving areas. As one would expect in a thriving metropolis like Cebu, the city is filled with excellent restaurants and night life as well as shopping and fascinating tourist sites, from world class museums and ornate shrines to an adventurous zip-line experience the likes of which you’ll never forget.
