Established in 1968 with the merger of three Norwegian shipping companies, Royal Caribbean's first cruise ship set sail in 1970. By 1978, the cruise line had set the trend of going bigger and better by chopping Song of Norway in half and adding a middle section to the ship – the first time this had been done to a passenger ship. Royal Caribbean International Fleet
There are more than 20 ships within the Royal Caribbean fleet, spread across seven different ship classes. Each class has something slightly different to offer. For example, Radiance Class is all about the views, with wide-open spaces, glass walls, balconies and lifts; Voyager Class features climbing walls, ice rinks and miniature golf; and Quantum Class is the newest class of cruise ship, with the North Star observation pod and Two70 theatre. Sailing out of Australia for the 2018/2019 summer season is Ovation of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas and Explorer of the Seas, while summer 2019/2020 will see Ovation of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas sail from Australian shores.
