Back in 1927, APT wasn't the multi-faceted company it is today, though pioneering it was. In response to a strike on Melbourne trams, Bill McGeary attached a bus body onto a tray track as an alternative method of transport, and the seeds of an innovative travel company were sown. Today, APT is synonymous with inclusive luxury river cruising throughout Europe and cruise tours to worldwide destinations.
Together with AMA Waterways, APT launched a fleet of custom-designed European river cruise ships and in just a few years became a favourite among travellers. APT's 2011 maiden voyages of its new Concerto Class ships signifies a shift in the river cruise industry with larger vessels and the introduction of twin cabin balcony suites. APT river cruises take in destinations throughout Europe and Russia. APT also organises cruises and cruise tours to destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Alaska and throughout Asia.
Who's On Board?
APT's European river cruises are available exclusively to travellers from Australia and New Zealand. With no children's facilities on board, and shore excursions that are often unsuitable for children, the APT crowd is mostly adult.
Top five reasons to cruise with APT

All APT river cruise ships are boutique style and allow no more than 212 passengers per cruise. This makes for an intimate cruising experience without the crowds, and with large, spacious suites for all passengers. - Private Balconies
The majority of suites have their own private balconies, allowing for unspoilt views of the stunning European countryside and fresh air whenever you feel the need. - Variety of Dining Options
Despite the boutique size of ships and limited number of passengers, all cruises offer between four and seven different dining experiences to ensure you never get bored. - Modern Interiors
All of APT’s European river ships were launched between 2006 and 2011, ensuring state-of-the-art facilities and modern, luxurious suites. - Intimate Lounges
