Under this code some offences can attract physical punishment while others attract executions. Offences that attract the death penalty include blasphemy, sodomy, adultery, rape and murder. Carry-on Baggage

Passengers must adhere to the following carry-on baggage limits imposed by Royal Brunei. Bags in excess of the below amounts will be required to travel as checked luggage.

Carry-on

Checked Baggage

The amount of the free checked baggage allowance depends on the passenger’s fare class and class of travel. This amount will be printed on the passenger’s electronic ticket. Business Class guests are permitted multiple bags up to 30 or 40 kilograms (depending on fare class). Economy Class guests are allowed to check up to 20 or 25 kilograms of luggage.

While multiple bags are allowed, no single piece may weigh more than 32kg. Bags must also fit within size guidelines. The maximum linear dimensions when adding the depth + width + height, must not exceed 157cm (62 inches). Bags exceeding the size or weight limits will be charged overweight or excess baggage fees.

Sporting Equipment

Sporting equipment may be included as part of a passenger’s checked baggage allowance provided the item fits within the size and weight limitations. Certain types of sporting equipment are eligible for a 5kg or 12kg excess baggage waiver.

Snow and water ski equipment, surf boards and bowling balls are eligible for the 5kg waiver, while golf equipment, diving equipment and bicycles receive the 12kg waiver when going towards the checked baggage allowance.

Passengers must ensure that proper packaging guidelines are followed for each type of equipment. The guidelines may vary depending on the type of equipment and the passenger or travel agent should inquire with Royal Brunei at least 24 hours before departure time for specific details.

Restricted or Dangerous Goods

Firearms, sharp, blunt or other potentially dangerous items are never allowed in cabin baggage. This includes knives, scissors and box cutters. Liquids and gels are also restricted to 100mL or less per container. These items must be packed in a clear, re-sealable bag and scanned separately at the security check point.

Further restrictions for checked baggage include explosives and fireworks, flammable materials, gasses and liquids, toxins, paints, infectious materials and lithium batteries.

Check-in

Royal Brunei check-in counters typically open 3 hours before scheduled departure time and passengers are encouraged to check-in as early as possible. Passengers must present their ticket, passport and any required visas or other travel documentation before a boarding pass can be issued.

All passengers must be processed before the check-in closing time. Anyone arriving after the check-in closing time may be denied boarding, with the value of the fare possibly being lost. The closing times for check-in at each Royal Brunei airport are listed below. Times are subject to change.
