Economy
Economy class seating on Alaska Airlines features slim line seats to maximize personal space. A generous 32 inch seat pitch is standard across the airline’s Boeing 737 fleet for an ample amount of leg space. Typical seat width for an economy seat is 17 inches.
Cabin features include Wi-Fi and on most aircraft, personal entertainment is streamed to personal mobile devices. With the exception of the 400 and 700 series, the 737 fleet also features USB power points for laptops and other mobile devices. Additional entertainment options include portable digEPlayer tablets. Pre-loaded with a wide selection of movies, TV programs, music and general interest programing, guests may rent the device for a small fee.
All Alaska flights feature a complimentary beverage service and include soft drinks, juices, tea and Starbucks coffee. Beer, wine and mixed drinks are available for purchase. Alaska features a diverse inflight menu where both hot and cold snacks are available for purchase. Selections may vary depending on the length of the flight.
First Class
First Class seating consists of plush 21 inch wide recliner seats with a 36 inch seat pitch for generous leg room.
Alaska’s fleet of Boeing 737s feature inflight Wi-Fi as well as individual USB and power points at each First Class seat. Portable digEPlayer tablets are available on some flights and are provided to First Class passengers for use in flight. The devices are complimentary to First Class passengers and feature a wide selection of pre-loaded entertainment options such as movies, TV programs and music.
Depending on the length of the flight, First Class passengers are treated to tasty cheese plates, light snacks, and three course meals – all complimentary. Meals are paired with the finest California and Pacific Northwest wines and a full range of bar and beverage choices.
Carry-on Baggage
A limit of one carry-on item per passenger is permitted. The maximum size is limited to 129 cm (L+W+H) or 51 inches. Bags exceeding this allowance will be charged a $25 fee and will be tagged and delivered to the baggage carousel as checked luggage. In addition to the one piece of carry-on luggage, guests are also allowed to bring on board one personal item such as a handbag, camera or diaper bag, coat or umbrella or similar item.
Checked Baggage
The checked baggage fees and allowances vary depending on fare type, class of service, frequent flyer status and destination. Checked baggage fees usually apply for standard economy class passengers who are flying within the USA and who are not a top tier frequent flyer. Standard bag fees are $25 for the first and second bag and $75 for a third bag.
All checked bags must weigh 50 lbs or less and be under 62 linear inches (L+W+H) in size. Items outside of these measurements may incur a fee or be denied for carriage.

Size limitations for carry-on bags are 55cm long x 40cm wide x 20cm high. Any item that exceeds these measurements must be checked in.
Sporting Equipment & Musical Equipment
Alaska will accept sporting equipment and musical instruments provided they are properly packaged in a hard protective case. If within weight and size limitations, the articles may be included as part of a guests baggage allowance. Oversized or overweight charges will apply if the item does not meet standard checked baggage guidelines.
Restricted or Dangerous Goods
Certain items are restricted from flying in the cabin or in checked baggage. These items include, but are not limited to, flammable liquids and gasses, fireworks, explosives, toxins, corrosives, infectious materials, paints or petrol fuelled machinery or tools. Electric wheelchair batteries and portable oxygen containers may be accepted in the cabin provided proper guidelines are met. Your Flight Centre consultant can provide details for guests travelling with these items.
If in doubt, leave it out. Even if you accidentally take a dangerous good on board an aircraft you can be fined and penalised.
Check-in
Check-in may be accomplished at any Alaska Airlines ticket counter. For international travel to Canada or Mexico, passengers will be required to present their passport, any required visa, as well as ticket and boarding pass. Minimum check-in times are 60 minutes for international and 40 minutes for domestic flights.
Web check-in is also available between 24 and 2 hours before departure. Passengers may print off their boarding pass or save an electronic boarding pass on their personal mobile device. Check-in, seat selection and boarding pass printing may also be done at an Alaska Airlines airport kiosk which are located in front of the ticket counter. Checked bags may be dropped off at the bag drop-off counter before proceeding to security and the departure gate.
Lounges
A quiet sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the airport terminal, the Board Room is a relaxing place to unwind. The Board Room and other airline affiliated lounges provide a convenient work space, internet and Wi-Fi connections, reading materials and complimentary snacks and beverages. Board Room membership may be purchased on an annual basis. One day passes are also available if departing on an Alaska Airlines flight that day.
Alaska Airlines’ Board Room Lounges are located in Anchorage, Seattle and Los Angeles. Additional alliance partner lounges are available throughout the US, including in places such as Boston, Dallas, Chicago, Denver and Honolulu. Alliance airlines include Delta and American.
Mileage Plan
Earn and redeem frequent flyer points with the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. Members may qualify for elite status when flying with Alaska Airlines and its 12 airline partners. Points may also be accrued when using Alaska’s hotel and car rental partners.
There are three status levels in the Mileage Plan – MVP, MVP Gold and MVP Gold 75K. Each tier is based on miles and segments flown and represents a different level of reward possibilities. In addition to award travel, members can also enjoy free upgrades, discounts on lounge membership and priority check-in.
Fleet
Alaska Airlines operates a fleet of over 130 Boeing 737s, including the 400, 700, 800 and 900 series. The airline primarily uses the 800 and 900 series for longer trans-continental and Hawaiian routes. Alaska has an order with Boeing for additional 737-900ERs as well as the 737 MAX.
