Carry-on

Whichever class you’re flying in, Air Austral carry-on luggage allowance allocates one piece per passenger with a maximum weight of 10kg and sum of measurements no more than 115cm. In addition to this one small personal item such as camera, handbag, laptop can also be taken onboard.

Checked

If you’re travelling in Loisirs class, you can check baggage with a weight up to 25kg. For Confort class this is increased to 35kg, and Club Austral can take up to 40kg of checked luggage. No one piece of checked baggage must exceed 32 kg in weight (30kg max for flights to Thailand). Generally you can check 2 pieces as long as the designated free weight allowance is not exceeded, or excess baggage fees will apply. Members of Air Austral’s Frequent Flyer programme, Capricorn, can redeem points for excess baggage allowance.

Bulky Items

Passengers wishing to fly with bulky items such as sports equipment must notify the airline before they travel. Sports equipment can travel with you as checked in luggage onboard Air Austral, as long as the sum of its dimensions fall within the airlines guidelines. Windsurfers, surfboards, and bikes are included in checked luggage allowance, and excess fees of up to 75 Euros will be charged if the standard weight allowance is exceeded. The maximum length of sports equipment allowed is 180cm, with the sum of total measurements capped at 300cm.

Infant Baggage

When you travel with an infant, Air Austral provides a baggage allowance of 10kg so you can bring all the necessary baby items for a long journey such as clothing, nappies, bottles and toys. A foldable stroller can also be conveniently brought along and dropped right at the gate when you board the plane.

Restricted or Dangerous Goods

Some materials are prohibited onboard Air Austral flights, including explosives, compressed gas, inflammable items, toxic materials, household chemicals such as bleach or washing powder. In your carry-on luggage certain items are not allowed, including firearms, knives and offensive weapons, explosives, corrosives, and straight razors or scissors. Liquids, aerosols, gels and pastes are restricted in carry-on bags, and can only be taken onboard in transparent containers with a maximum of 100ml, and carried in a clear plastic zip-lock bag of 20cm x 20cm or less (one bag per passenger). Some exceptions to this rule include liquid medication, baby food and duty free purchases with visible proof of purchase carried in sealed bag.
