Carry-On Baggage
The dimensions and size limitations for carry-on baggage are the same regardless of destination or class of travel. The maximum size of any carry-on is L55cm x W35cm x D25cm. Weight limits are determined by the destination and class of travel. Limits are outlined in the chart below.
Checked Baggage
Aerolineas Argentinas utilizes a weight system and a piece concept to determine the baggage allowance per passenger. Which system is used is determined by the route travelled.
Weight System – The weight system is used on flights within Argentina and to most destinations within South America. Economy class passengers are allowed multiple pieces of baggage with a maximum total weight of 15kg. Club Economy guests are permitted a total of 30kg.
Piece System – The piece system allows a specific number of pieces, each with a maximum weight. For instance, travel to Europe provides for 1 piece up to 23kg for Economy Class or up to 3 bags at a maximum of 23kg per piece for Club Condor Class. Allowances vary depending on destination.
Sporting Equipment
Depending on the type of sporting equipment and the route travelled, this type of special baggage is in many cases part of the free baggage allowance. When part of the free allowance, fees will still apply for overweight or oversized items or when the number of pieces exceed the total allowance. For items not included in the free allowance, carriage of the item is permitted with an excess baggage fee. To be accepted, all equipment must be packaged in accordance with airline policy.
To pack a bike in a bike box: turn the handlebars in and secure to the frame, remove pedals and front wheel if possible, lower or remove seat post and deflate tyres.
Musical Equipment
Musical instruments must be packed in a hard case for check-in. It acts as part of your allowance provided each piece is within the specified guide-lines.
Restricted or Dangerous Goods
For safety and security reasons, items such as flammable liquids, gasses and materials, infectious substances, explosives, toxins and corrosives are never permitted in carry-on or checked baggage. Any such item must be declared to airline personnel at time of check-in. See the chart below for the full list of items permitted and those which are restricted.
If in doubt, leave it out. Even if you accidentally take a dangerous good on board an aircraft you can be fined and penalised.
Check-in is always available at the airport ticket counter. Recommended check in time is two hours prior to departure when presenting baggage for check-in. This is for domestic and international flights. If travelling without baggage, check-in times are 90 minutes prior to departure for international flights and 60 minutes for domestic.
